How The Sundance Family Foundation Connects to Their Audience

The Sundance Family Foundation connects young adults to short-term training, and career opportunities.

Recently, NineNorth’s Executive Director, Dana Healy, spoke with Peg Thomas, the Executive Director of the Foundation about their work in the community.

The Foundation is connecting young workers with companies. As a result, the foundation is changing the economic landscape in Minnesota. To do this, they engage their communities on a regular basis. Here are three ways the Sundance Family Foundation connects companies with workers:

Sundance Family Foundation Zoomerkammers

Firstly, Zoomerkammers are hour-long sessions that focus on careers and training that are available in the Twin Cities area. These Zoom events are held twice a month.Viewers listen to employers present their companies and career paths. After the recording, the foundation’s staff makes it easy to review the past content by compiling company information into the Zoomerkammer Speakers Catalogue. You can find nonprofit, government and private sector job opportunities.

Wunderkammers

Secondly, The Sundance Family Foundation hosts events called Wunderkammer. These are are job fairs where companies showcase their career tracks to recruit new workers. Then, companies can connect with young adults looking for quality careers. These events look a lot like job fairs, however they have a more educational component. Many of the companies will explain how training can be paid for and how the process works.

Earn & Learn Documentary

Lastly, The Foundation will be premiering their Earn & Learn Documentary film on Oct 27th and Oct 28th. This film showcases the Earn & Learn Career Pathway and the positive impact it has on both youth and employers in Minnesota. The film screenings are completely free and an excellent opportunity for networking between businesses and career navigators. To register for the event, sign up here
