Historian John Vanek, a descendant of Little Canada’s founders, recently shared a comprehensive presentation detailing his extensive research into the lives of Benjamin Gervais and Genevieve Laurence. In collaboration with the Little Canada Historical Society, Vanek’s work transcends traditional genealogy, uncovering a narrative of regional and national significance that spans the fur trade, the Red River Colony, and the early development of Minnesota.
